AMLA (Indian Gooseberry)

The fruit of the wild Indian Gooseberry has been used in India for a number of ways in Ayurvedic medicine:

You may be able to purchase Amla juice in season (December through April), dried (eat as a snack), or pickled (also may be candied and called amla murabba).  You can mix a little honey into the juice and dilute with water as Indian Gooseberry is sour.  It can be found in powder form and added to smoothies.  Amla oil may prevent premature greying.

AMLA contains oxalates and may not be suitable for those prone to kidney stones. One writer claimed links to liver damage but we were unable to find that link. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23978895/
